Coconut Scrubber

$9.00

Why consider a change: plastic brushes and bristles are a tough thing to dispose of in a conscious manner; it's basically impossible. Plastic brushes will always break down into plastic waste during use, and there is no hope for any type of kitchen brush to be recycled after what it goes through. Choosing a compostable option drastically reduces the impact over decades and centuries by being able to fully break down into natural elements in a better timeline.

The Product: This is our toughest scrubber choice in the shop!

This sustainable swap helps you replace steel wool or plastic pot scrubbers in the kitchen or for general household cleaning. Stiff but malleable coconut husk bristles especially designed to handle heavy duty cleaning; ideal for scrubbing out stains, stuck on food, removing labels from jars, tub and shower build-up, etc. Works on a variety of surfaces including cast iron. Can be used for 6 months-1 year.

The product contains only coconut bristles, held together by a metal wire.

4" x 4" x 2" | unpackaged product/no plastic packaging (will be wrapped in unbleached, reused shipping paper if shipped)

Care Instructions: Allow to fully dry in between uses or on a dry towel to allow bristles to drain. Never leave submerged in water as it will wear on the natural bristles and may cause premature fall out. If you need to clean your brush, clean bristles with vinegar to kill bacteria.

Please note that while in use/being scrubbed, bits of the coconut fibre may degrade off of the scrubber. This is normal as it's generally used for intense scrubbing tasks. You can have no fear that these bits will be washed down the drain or outdoors, as they are natural fibres and will degrade naturally.

How to Dispose:  Can be demoted to household cleaning then home composted. Metal wire can be scrap metal recycled.
